Don't worry if you don't have your own gear. From gloves to goggles – you can rent just about anything from the numerous stores across New Zealand. Renting is definitely the cheaper option if you only enjoy a day here and there on the mountains, or if you can't bring all your gear from overseas. Aside from a snowboard or skis, plus poles, boots and bindings, you'll need: sunglasses or ski goggles, a ski or board lock, carry bag, thermal underwear, waterproof pants and jacket, gloves or mittens, warm sweater or fleece, ski socks, hat or headband, and a neck gaiter or vest for extra insulation. Also get yourself some sunscreen and lip balm to protect your precious skin from the sun!
