
Getting around New Zealand is easy. For maximum independence, rent a car or campervan (but don't forget to think about chains if you're heading up the mountains). For economy and a social experience, get on board a train or bus. Whichever way you go, sooner or later you’ll have to cross the ‘ditch’ – ferries depart regularly across Cook Strait between Wellington and Picton.
