Rent a car for maximum independence! Most of the major car hire companies have desks at airports, ferry terminals and city depots throughout the country. If you want to rent a car, bear in mind that car hire companies generally do not rent to those under 21 years of age. You will also need to hold a valid license from your home country (including a translation if the license is not in English). Heading up the mountains? Chain hire is readily accessible throughout the country.
